The two movie tours, Movie Locations Tour (about €153, seven hours) and Highlights and Movie Sites (about €151), focus on film sets including Jurassic Park locations. The East Side and North Shore tour for waterfalls and beaches is about €356.
If you are comfortable driving, the canyon is a simple self-drive from Lihue. A tour makes more sense for the stops you would not find alone, or if you do not want to rent a car for one day.
Good to know: Driving to Waimea Canyon yourself takes about an hour to 75 minutes from Lihue (Hawaii Guide), so a tour mainly pays for the guide, the stops and not having to drive. The group tours cost about €151 to €214; the private custom Waimea tour costs about €966. On 30 October 2026 Kōkeʻe Road was closed until further notice, with access only to the Waimea Canyon Lookout, so check the DLNR park notices before you book.
Good to know
From Lihue it is about an hour to 75 minutes, around 36 to 37 miles (Hawaii Guide), more in rush hour. Poipu is about 25 to 30 minutes and Hanalei about 45 to 50 minutes from Lihue.
